Frequently asked questions

Do I need sailing experience?

No. Every trip shows the level required (beginner, intermediate, experienced) and many are open to people who have never sailed. In your profile you add your experience and boating licence so the skipper knows who is coming aboard.

Does it cost anything to join as a crew member?

Signing up and requesting a berth is free. The share of boat expenses (fuel, food, marina fees) is shown on each trip and agreed with the skipper.

How do I request a place?

Open the trip page and press the request button with a short introduction. The skipper reviews your profile and replies. Only after approval you receive the confirmation with all details and contacts.

Who sees my phone number and email?

Nobody until the skipper approves your request. Before that you talk through the site's chat.

Can I add the trip to my calendar?

Yes: every trip page has an "Add to calendar" button (.ics file for Google, Apple or Outlook calendars) with a reminder two days before.

Is the site available in English?

This page gives you the essentials in English. The booking area (sign-up, trips, chat) is currently in Italian; the browser's built-in translation works well on it.

What if something goes wrong?

Use the report button in chat or write to us from the Contact page. In an emergency at sea call 112 or the Italian Coast Guard on 1530.
